Harrogate man ready to tackle gruelling fitness challenge to raise money for mental health charity

A man from Harrogate is taking on an epic fitness challenge to raise money for Mind ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week next week.

Tom Seed will be aiming to run 20 miles and complete 1,000 pull-ups, 2,000 push-ups and 3,000 air squats in just ten hours.

This impressive challenge, which will take place on Saturday, May 25, at Eleven Eleven Sports Performance, falls the week after Mental Health Awareness Week, and will raise money for Mind.

It has been created to show the mental resilience needed to complete something extremely taxing on the body under both fatigue and a time pressure.

Each hour, on the hour, Tom will perform what is known in the CrossFit world as a “Murph”, which includes a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats and a further one mile run.

The rest of the hour will be for rest and preparing for the next round.

Tom and the team at Eleven Eleven Sports Performance are inviting residents to join them by taking on one of the workouts.

Those who attend will also be given one free workout at Eleven Eleven Sports Performance to use any time in the following two weeks.
