New hotel creates a buzz in village

Boston Spa is buzzing about a new hotel but this des-res won't be rated on TripAdvisor by its clients.

The village’s In Bloom group has built a five-star, four floor Bug Hotel which is open for business in Church Fields.

“At the beginning of the year we began working with local joiner Tom Brothwell to design and build a bug hotel specifically for the village,” said Boston Spa In Bloom spokesman David Watts.

“The intention was to create a perfect environment to encourage and sustain some of the wildlife already native to our countryside.”

The building is constructed from tantalised timber with a sedum roof of 16 different varieties to create colour and interest, as well as enhancing biodiversity.

“The design incorporates spaces for different species of insects, frogs and toads, and even a special entrance for hedgehogs,” added Mr Watts.

“We’re very happy to declare the hotel open, for guests to stay for as long as they’d like to.”
